Recientemente cumplí 30. Hice un BA (Licenciatura) de Fotografía en el London College of Communication. Nací en Suecia, vivo en Londres y trabajo en ambos lugares.

Herramientas: Qué tipo de cámaras usas y en el debate de Digital vs. Análogo, donde te posicionas?

Solía usar exclusivamente mi Hasselblad, especialmente durante la universidad. Fue una excelente forma de descubrir los colores y tonos que me atraen. Ahora, hago más fotos digitales que análogas porque realizo más trabajo editorial y si las hiciera con rollo no podría pagar la renta. He disfrutado trabajar con digital y experimentar mientras encuentro un camino que resulta en un trabajo que vive a mis expectativas.

Influencias: Cuáles son tus más grandes influencias, fotográficas o no fotográficas?

Siempre me ha interesado el trabajo de retratos y así fue como me interese en la fotografía en primer lugar. Antes de saber que quería ser fotógrafa, vi dos exhibiciones que tuvieron un gran impacto en mi: Henri Cartier Bresson en el museo Louisiana de Copenhagen y Sally Mann en una galería de Nueva York. Una gran fuente de inspiración son los álbumes fotográficos de mi abuelo. Fue un gran fotógrafo amateur y tiene más de 60 años de fotografías familiares meticulosamente ordenadas.

Auto-halago: Cuáles son tus fotografías (propias) favoritas?

Mi último proyecto es una serie de retratos de adolescentes embarazadas, de esa serie hay una de mis absolutamente favoritas, el retrato de Stephanie. Ella ha pasado por mucho en su vida y la fotografía refleja su vulnerabilidad y fortaleza. Muestra que ha encontrado paz en su vida y que su embarazo saca un aspecto de ella, que hace recordar una Madonna –en el sentido renacentista.

Localidad: Como influye tu lugar de residencia en tu trabajo?

Afecta el tipo de luz con el que te enfrentas. Londres no es mi lugar ideal debido a esto. Viviría en un lugar del mundo que estuviera inundado por luz.

Futuro: Qué podremos ver de ti en el futuro?

Mi novio y yo tenemos una productora. Este verano, trabajaremos en un proyecto en Asia; cubriremos un eclipse solar.

Especulación: Qué trabajo harías si tuvieras todos los recursos necesarios?

Me encantaría llevar mi proyecto “Generaciones” alrededor del mundo y fotografiar gente en la mayor cantidad de países posibles.

I’ve just hit 30. I did a BA Hons Photography at London College of Communication. Born in Sweden, based in London and working in both places.

Tools: What cameras do you use? Where do you stand in the Digital vs Analogue debate?

I used exclusively my Hasselblad throughout college and spent a lot of time hand printing which was a great way to discover what colours and tones I was drawn to. Nowadays I shoot more digital than analog, partly because I do a lot of editorial work and if I always shot on film I wouldn’t be able to pay rent. But I have enjoyed working digitally and experimenting with it to find a way that gives a result that lives up to my expectations.

Influences: Could you tell us about what influences your work, photographically speaking and influences that could come from other non-photography related areas?

I have always been drawn to portrait work and that was how I got interested in photography in the first place. I saw two exhibitions before I knew I wanted to do photography which had a huge impact on me. Henri Cartier Bresson at Louisiana in Copenhagen and Sally Mann at a gallery in New York. Another big source of inspirations has always been my grandfather’s photo albums. He was keen amateur photographer and has more then 60 years worth of family photographs meticulously ordered.

Self-promotion: From your own body of work, which are your favorite photographs?

My latest project is a series of portraits of pregnant teenage girls and one of my absolute favorite photographs is of Stephanie. She’s been trough a lot in her life and that photograph shows her vulnerability and her strength. It shows she has found peace and her pregnancy brings out something Madonna-like (in the classical sense) over her.

Location: How does you place of residency affect your work?

Well it affects the type of light you are presented with. London is not my ideal place due to this. I would like to live in a part of the world that was more flooded with light.

Future: What will we see from you in the future?

My boyfriend and I have a film company together and we are working on a project that will be set in Asia this summer and cover the solar eclipse.

Speculation: If you had all the resources necessary, what project would you love to do?

I would love to take my projects about generations around the world and photograph people in as many countries as possible.
